FOUNDATIONS IN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT
Long before this work had a name, it followed a simple pattern. Noticing where people were being held back, identifying gaps in systems, creating environments for individuals' to flourish and empowering collaborative growth and potential. From her late teens, Sally worked across sport and youth development sectors, supporting young women, families, coaches and programs across Australia. Establishing herself as a junior development specialist, her work extended beyond technical performance to focus on building resilience, confidence and long-term wellbeing.
For over a decade, she designed coaching frameworks, mentoring programs, development pathways and partnerships with individuals and families that supported both performance and personal growth. Several of the athletes she coached progressed into high-performance programs, competing at state, national and international levels. This early work shaped a core belief that continues to guide her today - that human potential is not accidental. It emerges when the right structures, relationships and expectations are in place.
ADVOCACY, EDUCATION & BUILDING COMMUNITY
Alongside coaching, Sally recognised a broader gap in how knowledge, culture and athlete development were being shared within the gymnastics community.
In response, she independently created and produced Stick It! The Australian Gymnastics Magazine - a national publication designed to educate, connect and elevate the voices within the sport.
Across three editions, the magazine reached hundreds of families, coaches and young athletes across Australia and New Zealand, contributing to a stronger community, shared learning and advocacy.

LIVED EXPERIENCE & SYSTEM INSIGHT
In 2015, Sally's professional direction became deeply intertwined with her own lived experience of navigating mental illness, recovery and fragmented systems of care. Experiencing first-hand disjointed care pathways, communication breakdowns and short-term approaches to care reshaped her understanding of the system - and the ways it can unintentionally deepen isolation, reduce hope and limit a person's sense of possibility. Recovery, she came to understand, is not just about reducing symptoms.
It's about rebuilding a life -
continuity, belonging, purpose
and being seen as more than a diagnosis.
This intersection of lived experience and her background in coaching, mentoring and education led her into the mental health space, where she has spent over a decade supporting individuals and families, contributing to multidisciplinary teams, delivering education and advocating for person-centred, trauma-informed, recovery-orientated care. Her work has included presentations across health and education settings, contributing to national conversations, collaborating with clinicians and communities and advisory roles with organisations such as Brisbane South Primary Health Networks and Eating Disorders Families Australia.
CLINICAL CARE & PERSON-CENTRED NAVIGATION
Today, Sally works as an Advanced Care Paramedic in both acute pre-hospital setting and as part of the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) mental health co-responder (CoRe) team. Her work uniquely sits at the intersection of lived experience, clinical practice and system reform. Across emergency, community and educational environments, she brings over two decades of collective experience walking alongside individuals and families - often during their most vulnerable moments. Her roles have spanned frontline response, system navigation and capacity building - supporting people not just to survive a crisis, but to understand their options, find their voice and move forward with clarity. Whether she is working with individuals, families, clinicians or communities, her approach is grounded in clarity, curiosity and care that sees the whole person - always asking not "what's wrong?", but "what support would help this person move forward?" It is an extension of the same pattern that began her career years earlier - building platforms, creating connection and supporting people to realise what is possible.
